One, Let's Go USA: On a Budget, has detailed information about everything. Cheap motels, cheap eats, cheap events. Because it's a domestic journey, it didn't feel like TRAVEL until I took this book home. There's so much to see! So much to do!
Two, 500 Things to Eat Before It's Too Late, is maybe the most exciting book I've ever purchased. Not only does it recommend amazing NYC eats for our last few weeks here, it lists Polly's, of Sugar Hill, NH, twice! And yes, Polly's makes the list of Best Pancakes. In the entire country. As if I didn't think they were great already!
Sadly, there is a Portland bakery on the "Best Cupcakes" list, thus dashing our hopes of opening our own cupcake/beer atelier. Guinness cupcake with cacao frosting, anyone? Recommended by the book and subsequently unrecommended by me are deep fried cow balls (yes, that kind of ball) and all related fare. Even with this adventurous spirit, that just ain't gonna happen.
